Cloudbreak

Cloudbreak, being the most famous of the surrounding waves, is a powerful left a mile off the island that breaks over coral reef. Regularly voted one of the 10 best /most challenging waves in the world. Beginnings can enjoy fun learning waves directly in front of the island at ‘Kiddieland’.

Namotu Lefts

Frigate Pass

Best when small, due to its open nature when the swell gets big it can be unmanageable. Frigates has been called the ‘Coral Coast’s answer to Cloudbreak’. Access is by boat (it’s in the middle of nowhere) with Waidroka Surf and Dive Resort which specializes in surfing.

LEARNING TO SURF IN FIJI

Many of Fiji’s waves break onto reef which makes them better suited to experienced surfers, however there are some fantastic beach breaks which are perfect for beginners and those just wanting to enjoy the ride.

Natadola Beach is located about 45 minutes east of Nadi and is Viti Levu’s best. It’s a stunning location with a vast bank of white sand sliding into a cobolt sea. Natadola’s inside break –which is inside the bay – is great for surfing beginners, while Natadola Outside – at the entrance of the channel is better for experienced surfers.
